So you know that exercise is crucial if you want to
lose weight. But what does actually happen in your body when you exercise?
Well, it is a complicated process, but we will try to make it as easy to understand
as possible.
First your breathing rate will increase to ensure
that you have enough oxygen in your lungs. Then heart rate will increase-
pumping more blood so the oxygen and nutrients can get into your muscles. The
source of energy they use is called ATP- Adenosine triphosphate, it is the way
our bodies store and use the energy.
Muscles will burn calories, first from the
sugar in your blood and after some time from fat stored in your body. After
about 12 weeks starts adaptation. That is when you can actually talk about
health benefits of exercise to your heart and the rest of the body, because the
psychological effects are there almost immediately.
This is the simplified version of what happens to
your body when you exercise.
